KVM-Extender kaufen
„KVM“ kommt aus dem Englischen und steht für „Keyboard, Video, Mouse“. Ein KVM-Extender ist im Grunde nichts anderes, als ein Gerät, dass diese Schnittstellen erweitern kann, und das bis zu mehreren Kilometern oder über das Internet, bei dem praktisch keine Grenzen gesetzt sind. Somit wird der Fernzugriff auf einen Computer über eine beliebige Strecke ermöglicht.
Ein solcher Extender besteht aus einem Sender bzw. Transmitter und einem Empfänger bzw. Receiver. Die Übertragung zwischen Transmitter und Receiver erfolgt über ein CATx- oder Glasfaserkabel. Neue KVM-Technologien sind sogar in der Lage diese Signale über ein Standard-IP-Netzwerk zu übertragen. Somit können Sie z.B. von Ihrer Arbeit aus ganz einfach auf den Computer im heimischen Büro zugreifen.
Die heutigen KVM-Geräte verfügen hauptsächlich noch über USB-, DVI- und HDMI-Schnittstellen. Früher wurden noch analoge Anschlüsse wie VGA und PS/2 verwendet, HDMI und USB haben sich aber inzwischen zum gängigen Standard entwickelt.

Wozu benötigt man KVM-Extender?
Einzelne Komponenten wie die CPU in einem Computer geben teilweise sehr viel Wärme ab, daher ist meist eine aktive Kühllösung nötig, die den Geräuschpegel je nach Last auf eine unangenehme Ebene ansteigen lässt. In einer ruhigen Umgebung wie z.B. Büroräumen kann diese Geräusch- und Hitzeentwicklung schnell störend wirken. Daher werden Computer oft in eine Geräuschisolierte und klimatisierte Räumlichkeit gestellt, um ruhige Arbeitsplätze zu gewährleisten. Um jedoch Verbindung zwischen weiter entfernten Computern und den Displays und Eingabegeräten sind KVM-Extender notwendig.
Oft kann auch das Arbeitsumfeld ungeeignet für einen Computer sein, da z.B. sehr viel Schmutz in den Computer gelangen kann. Daher kann es auch nötig sein, den Computer in ein sauberes Umfeld zu stellen zu müssen, um dessen einwandfreie Funktionsfähigkeit zu gewährleisten. Also ist auch hier die Verwendung von einem KVM-Kit zu empfehlen.
