What is LoRaWAN and what applications is it suitable for?

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is an LPWAN radio protocol for IoT applications with long range (up to 15 km in open terrain) and very low energy consumption. It is particularly suited for sensor networks transmitting small amounts of data infrequently: environmental monitoring, meter reading, asset tracking, or machine condition monitoring.

How many sensors can a Dragino gateway manage?

A Dragino multi-channel gateway (8 channels) can manage several hundred to thousands of end nodes simultaneously depending on sensor transmission frequency – as LoRaWAN is an asynchronous protocol and each sensor only sends short data packets.

Which LoRaWAN server do Dragino products support?

Dragino gateways are compatible with all common LoRaWAN servers: The Things Network (TTN/TTI), ChirpStack (formerly LoRa Server), Actility, AWS IoT Core for LoRaWAN, as well as self-hosted solutions. Configuration is done via an intuitive web interface.
