The AXIS M1055-L is a compact box network camera with 1080p resolution, designed for professional video surveillance in indoor environments. The device features a fixed lens with a focal length of 3.16 mm, ensuring clear and sharp image reproduction. The camera is equipped with an IR-corrected lens, which guarantees consistent image quality under both day and night conditions. The integrated IR illumination enables effective night vision, allowing the camera to operate reliably even in dark environments. A Tally-LED visually indicates the operation of the video stream or recording, which is helpful during installation and maintenance.

Applications

The AXIS M1055-L is suitable for use in indoor environments where reliable and discreet video surveillance is required. Typical application scenarios include office buildings, warehouses, entrance areas, or other enclosed spaces where continuous surveillance with high image quality is necessary. The camera is not designed for outdoor use, as it does not have outdoor certification.

Functions and Equipment in Detail

The camera features an I/O port with one input and one output, which can be used to integrate into existing security systems, for example, to control alarm systems or trigger signals upon specific events. The integrated DPLU (Deep Learning Processing Unit) enables video analysis processing directly on the device, referred to as “Deep Learning on the Edge.” This reduces latency and decreases the load on network and server infrastructure. Pre-installed is AXIS Object Analytics, which enables automated object detection within the image. Additionally, integrated privacy protection functions are available, including AXIS Live Privacy Shield, which enables decentralized video surveillance with privacy protection. The cybersecurity functions protect the device against unauthorized access; for example, AXIS Edge Vault secures the device ID and simplifies authorization of AXIS products within the network.

Technology Explained Simply

The camera is powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet), enabling both power and data transmission over a single network cable. The resolution of 1080p (Full HD) ensures detailed and clear image reproduction. The fixed lens with a 3.16 mm focal length provides a fixed field of view, suitable for standard surveillance scenarios. The IR illumination ensures sufficient visibility in darkness, while the IR correction of the lens ensures even brightness distribution. The camera is not designed for PTZ functions (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) and offers a fixed field of view.

Compatibility and Accessories

The AXIS M1055-L can be combined with various accessory components to extend installation options and functionality. These include, for example, mounting kit T91A10, camera holder T91A05, or stand T91B21, enabling flexible mounting. For network integration, managed PoE+ switches such as the T8516 or T8524 are available. Additionally, PoE midspan devices such as the T8120 or TU8006 can be used to provide power over existing network cables. To extend night vision range, IR illuminators such as the T90D20 or white light illuminators such as the T90D25 are available, enhancing the reach of the IR illumination.

Installation and Mounting

The camera is compact and easy to install. Mounting is done using the provided mounting components, with the exact mounting method depending on the chosen holder. Power supply is via PoE, making installation possible without additional power sources. Cabling is done using a standard network cable (Cat 5e or higher), which transmits both data and power. Configuration is done via AXIS software or web interface, with integrated security functions already activated.

Operational Advantages

The camera offers high image quality both day and night, supported by IR illumination and the IR-corrected lens. The integrated DPLU enables efficient video analysis directly on the device, reducing network load. PoE technology simplifies installation and reduces the number of cables. Integrated security and privacy protection functions increase system reliability and protect against unauthorized access. The pre-installed AXIS Object Analytics enables quick setup of surveillance functions without additional software installations.
