Axis 03223-001 Accessory PoE Midspan TU8006 60 W content_copy

The AXIS TU8006 is a single-port midspan designed specifically for powering network devices over Ethernet cables. The manufacturer is Axis, and the product carries the manufacturer's number 03223-001. The device is designed for use in network infrastructures where decentralized power supply of PoE-capable end devices is required, without the need to replace existing switches or network components. The midspan supports the PoE standard IEEE 802.3bt, also known as High PoE, and delivers a maximum power output of 60 watts per port. This power level is sufficient to supply demanding devices such as IP surveillance cameras, access points, or other network end devices with high energy requirements.

Applications

The AXIS TU8006 is particularly suitable for applications requiring flexible and scalable power supply over existing networks. Typical use cases include the installation of surveillance cameras outdoors, powering WLAN access points in large rooms, or integrating PoE-capable sensors into existing networks. Since the device offers only one port, it is ideal for point-specific expansions or for powering individual, high-performance devices without the need to build an entire PoE infrastructure.

Features and Equipment in Detail

The device operates with an input voltage of 100 to 240 V AC, enabling worldwide use. Energy efficiency is a key feature of the AXIS TU8006, minimizing energy consumption during operation. Power is supplied via a single Ethernet cable, simplifying installation and reducing the number of cables required.

Technology Explained Simply

Power over Ethernet (PoE) enables the transmission of power and data over the same Ethernet cable. The AXIS TU8006 functions as a midspan, i.e., an intermediate component placed between an existing switch and a PoE-capable end device. This eliminates the need to equip the switch itself with PoE capability. The PoE technology according to IEEE 802.3bt supports power outputs up to 90 watts, with the AXIS TU8006 providing a maximum output power of 60 watts. This is sufficient for many High PoE devices requiring more power than the classic 15.4 watts (IEEE 802.3af) or 30 watts (IEEE 802.3at).

Compatibility and Accessories

The AXIS TU8006 is compatible with all devices supporting the IEEE 802.3bt standard. Suitable accessories include power cables such as the AXIS TU6011, available in various lengths and pack sizes. For surge protection, Surge Protector modules such as the AXIS TU8001 or T8061 can be used. For mounting, the AXIS T91A03 DIN rail clip is recommended, allowing secure attachment to a DIN rail, wall, or shelf. Additional PoE extenders such as the AXIS T8129 or TU8010 2-port are also available to extend the reach of the PoE connection.

Mounting and Installation

Installation of the AXIS TU8006 involves connecting it to a power source with 100–240 V AC and linking it via an Ethernet cable to the network device. Mounting can be done using the AXIS T91A03 DIN rail clip, which allows secure attachment to various surfaces. Setup requires no special tools or additional configurations, as the PoE function is automatically detected and activated.

Operational Advantages

Using the AXIS TU8006 reduces the complexity of the network infrastructure, as no additional power supplies or sockets are needed at the installation site. Power is supplied via the existing network, making installation faster and more cost-effective. High energy efficiency ensures low power consumption during continuous operation. Compatibility with IEEE 802.3bt enables use with a wide range of modern PoE devices requiring higher power. The modular design and availability of compatible accessories allow flexible adaptation to different application conditions.
