LED Lamps – FAQ
Which LED replaces which incandescent?
Guidelines: 25 W incandescent → LED 3 W / 250 lm. 40 W → LED 5 W / 470 lm. 60 W → LED 8 W / 806 lm. 100 W → LED 14 W / 1,380 lm. 150 W → LED 20 W / 2,000 lm. Old lamp watts ÷ 7 ≈ LED watts.
Do LED lamps work with dimmers?
Only use dimmable LED lamps (check ‘dimmable’ marking) with LED-compatible dimmers. Not all triac dimmers are LED-suitable – check the dimmer manufacturer's compatibility list. Observe minimum load requirements.
How long do LED lamps really last?
Manufacturer figures refer to the L70 value – the point at which luminous flux has fallen to 70 % of its original value. Typically 15,000–50,000 h. At 8 h/day, 25,000 h ≈ 8.5 years of life.
Can LED lamps be disposed of easily?
Yes – LED lamps contain no mercury and can be placed in the electrical waste container. No complex hazardous waste disposal as required for fluorescent lamps.
