LED Retrofit G9 – 230 V, no transformer neededG9 is the 230 V pin socket with loop contact pins – direct mains connection, no transformer required. It is the standard halogen replacement socket in wall lights, table lamps, ceiling lights and pendant lamps. LED G9 retrofit lamps replace halogen G9 burners (25–60 W) without modifying the luminaire. Technical specifications: wattages 2–6 W LED, equivalent to 20–60 W halogen. Luminous flux 150–550 lm. Dimensions nearly identical to the halogen G9 original (important for installation in enclosed luminaires with tight tolerances). Colour temperatures 2700 K, 3000 K, 4000 K. Capsule shape (clear or frosted) and globe shape available. Service life 15,000–25,000 h compared to 2,000 h for halogen G9. Dimmability: selected G9 LED models are dimmable with trailing-edge dimmers. Since the G9 socket is traditionally used in decorative luminaires with dimmer function, dimmer compatibility is a common purchase criterion. Refer to the compatibility list when enquiring. Applications: wall lights in living and sleeping areas, table lamps in restaurants and hotels, decorative ceiling lights, pendant lamps, office lights with design requirements. FAQ
Do LED G9 lamps fit in the same socket as halogen G9?
Yes – G9 socket is standardised. But check lamp outer dimensions: in very tight luminaire housings, longer or wider LED capsules may not fit. Refer to dimensions in the datasheet.
Do G9 LED lamps get very hot?
Significantly less than halogen G9 (halogen can reach 200–400°C surface temperature). LED G9: typically 60–80°C surface temperature. Nevertheless: check ventilation for enclosed luminaires.
What is the service life of G9 LED vs. halogen?
Halogen G9: approx. 2,000 h. LED G9: 15,000–25,000 h (depending on model). Calculated: 10–12 times the service life at significantly lower energy consumption.
