Type K (Afsnit 107) - The Danish Mains Plug
Two round pins for line and neutral, plus a distinctive half-moon-shaped earth pin - exclusive to Denmark and Greenland.
The Type K plug per Danish standard Afsnit 107-2-D1 is uniquely Danish. Mechanically: two round 4.8 mm pins for line and neutral - identical to Schuko - plus a half-moon-shaped earth pin below them. The crescent-shaped earth pin is the immediate visual giveaway. Rated 13 A at 230 V. The plug fits Schuko (CEE 7/4) sockets without earth contact, and Schuko plugs fit Danish sockets but again without earth contact - which is electrically incorrect but mechanically possible. Modern Danish installations require type K sockets in new wiring.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Danish earth pin half-moon-shaped?
To prevent insertion of foreign plugs that look similar but are not properly earthed. A pure round-pin plug like Type J Swiss looks similar but does not engage the earth contact in a Danish socket.
Will a Schuko plug work in Denmark?
Mechanically yes - the line and neutral pins fit. But the protective earth is not engaged, so a class I device runs unprotected. Use a hybrid CEE 7/7 with earth or a Type K cord.
Are EU directives changing this?
The EU has pushed for harmonisation, but Denmark has kept the K standard for safety reasons (the half-moon shape prevents specific dangerous mis-insertions). New installations in Denmark today increasingly include Schuko-compatible sockets that also accept K plugs.
