Key system phone features: direct PBX function key assignment (direct call, group call, park), DECT handover (seamless call handover when changing radio cell) and central PBX phone book. Multi-cell DECT systems (multiple chained base stations, SIP-DECT) enable seamless handset roaming over large areas (factory, logistics centre) without call interruption. ▶ How many base stations do I need for a multi-cell DECT system? The number depends on area, building structure and simultaneous calls. As a guideline: one DECT base covers approx. 30–50 m indoors (depending on walls and materials). Each base supports up to 8 simultaneous calls (DECT channel capacity). For an operation with 100 handsets and 20 simultaneous calls over 5,000 m², approx. 5–8 base stations are needed. Professional planning with DECT coverage measurement is recommended. |
▶ Can different handset models be registered at one base? Yes – with base stations supporting GAP or CAT-iq, handsets from different manufacturers can be registered. However, advanced system phone functions (PBX phone book, key assignment, DECT handover) are usually only fully available with manufacturer-matched handsets.
