Power Mixers – FAQ
Can a power mixer be used for fixed installations?
Yes – power mixers with a 100 V output are suitable for ELA systems in schools, restaurants and community halls. For larger installations (department stores, stations) dedicated ELA amplifiers are more appropriate.
How do I choose the right output power?
Rule of thumb: 2–5 W per listener for speech, 5–10 W for music/entertainment. Always plan 30 % headroom. Example: 100-person event – minimum 250 W (RMS).
Can a power mixer be used with active loudspeakers?
Yes – active speakers connect to the line output (XLR or jack) of the power mixer, not the speaker output. The built-in amplifier of the power mixer is then unused.
