Power mixers combine mixing desk and power amplifier in a single compact unit – ideal for mobile PA applications where weight and transport effort must be minimised. One device replaces mixer, amplifier and often an effects processor too. Simply connect microphones and speakers – ready to go.

Typical specification: 4–12 mic channels with XLR inputs and preamp, 3-band EQ per channel, aux sends for monitor and effects, integrated stereo effects processor, power amp with 100–1,000 W output (model dependent). Many models offer a 100 V output for ELA PA systems – making the power mixer suitable for fixed installations in schools or community halls too. Protection circuits: short-circuit, overload and thermal protection.

Applications: village fete and town event, school function and trip, church and worship, company meeting and seminar, sports club and clubhouse. Buying tip: manufacturer power ratings usually refer to continuous sine power – do not compare peak values (often quoted at 2x). For speakers with 4 Ω nominal impedance many power mixers deliver full rated power; for 8 Ω correspondingly less.
