SSD M.2

M.2 SSDs are the current standard for system drives in desktop PCs, notebooks, mini PCs and servers. The M.2 slot (key M or B+M) supports both SATA and NVMe PCIe protocol – check the correct variant for your system.

NVMe M.2 SSDs (PCIe 4.0: up to 7,000 MB/s, PCIe 5.0: up to 14,000 MB/s) replace PCIe 3.0 predecessors (up to 3,500 MB/s) as the standard system drive. Samsung 990 Pro, WD Black SN850X and Seagate FireCuda 530 are among the fastest consumer/prosumer models.

Enterprise NVMe M.2 (Samsung PM9A3, Kioxia CD7): U.3-compatible, power-loss protection, DWPD 1–3, capacities up to 8 TB. Thermal management: passive heatsinks or active fans for sustained full-load operation in dense server configurations.
