The Modular DKM KVM Extenders offer the widest range of combination possibilities for video and peripheral signals, allowing you to get the perfect KVM extender for even the most specific applications.

The Modular DKM KVM Extenders consist of housings with 2, 4, 6, or 21 slots, base modules with video and two USB HID interfaces, and upgrade modules for peripheral connections. Special converter modules allow for analog-to-digital conversion, enabling you to use a variety of analog video sources with the system. For particularly space-saving installations, an 8-port switching module is also available, providing the same functionality as the DKM FXC switches.

Base Modules:

The modules on this page provide one or two video ports and two USB HID connections for keyboard and mouse. They also offer CATx or LC fiber connections for remote connection or a switched environment to the central KVM switch. Each modular DKM extender housing must be equipped with at least one base module.

Choose between cable connections via CATx, fiber with 1 Gbps, or high-speed fiber with 2.5 Gbps depending on the desired distance and video bandwidth. CATx connections are ideal for shorter distances up to 140 m. The fiber modules support both multimode (up to 1 km) and singlemode cables (up to 10 km). The 2.5 Gbps high-speed modules are designed for demanding graphical applications, offering double the normal bandwidth.

Base modules are offered in various video formats. Choose from Single Link DVI-D, DVI-I with VGA input and DVI-D output, Dual Head DVI-D, HDMI, and DisplayPort, each with two USB HID connections for keyboard and mouse.

Modules with special features expand your possibilities even further. Redundant link modules are ideal for applications requiring a return channel, or you can use these modules if two users need to share a video channel. Modules with an integrated 2-port switch are the perfect solution if you want to connect both a remote console and a local console directly to the computer, or if a console needs to access both a remote and a local computer. For pure HD video distribution, choose modules with only a video interface. If you use Wacom tablets or other bandwidth-intensive USB devices, choose the transparent USB 2.0 module with 480 Mbps speed and a dedicated cable link.

Resolutions:

With digital video transmission without quality loss, the images are as sharp as if they were directly connected to the workstation. Advanced video compression algorithms support 24-bit color depth for smooth color gradients. Single Link DVI delivers pixel-perfect resolutions up to 2048 x 1152, Dual Link DVI up to 2560 x 1600/2x2K, HDMI is rendered pixel-perfect up to 1080p, and DisplayPort even up to 4K over the full distance.

DKM Modular Extenders Overview:

The housings are available as desktop versions with two, four, or six slots, as well as a 48,3 cm ( 19 inch ) version with 21 slots. For critical applications, it's best to use versions with two power supplies for redundant operation. Choose between internal or external power supplies, AC power, or DC with 12V, 24V, or 48V for industrial applications. The desktop housings can also be mounted on the wall, under the desk, on a DIN rail, or in a 48,3 cm ( 19 inch ) IT rack using optional mounting kits. Configure a housing with a transmitter card for the PC connection and a housing with receiver cards for the console.

Base modules provide the cable connection to the opposite side. Each housing must be equipped with a base card. These offer one or two video channels and two USB HID ports.

The upgrade modules transmit their signals through the base cards and thus do not require their own cable connection to the opposite side. This saves infrastructure costs and space. Choose from a variety of interfaces such as USB HID, PS/2, embedded USB 2.0 with 36 Mbps, serial RS-232 or RS-422 data, bidirectional analog audio, and uni- or bidirectional digital audio. Select the cards in any combination with the base modules in a single housing.

The DKM converter modules enable the connection of video sources with analog video formats such as component and composite or industrial formats like EGA, CGA, or MDA. For graphical applications, further options for SDI, HD-SDI, or 3G-SDI are available. The converter modules convert analog signals into digital DVI-D signals and transmit them losslessly over the distance.

The DKM FXC switching modules offer significant space savings. They require two slots in the housing but provide 8 ports and the full functionality of the DKM FXC matrix switches. Use these modules in the transmitter housing, eliminating the need for a separate KVM switch, and give your user access to eight computers with instant switching. Choose between versions with eight CATx or eight fiber connections.

The Modular DKM Extenders can be used for point-to-point extensions when the computer is placed remotely from the user console. They offer the widest variety of interfaces and the highest video quality, making them ideal for graphical users and those using specialized peripherals. In larger switched extensions, the Modular DKM Extenders work perfectly with the KVM matrix switches from the DKM FX and DKM FXC series. In combination with the DKM switches, you can establish a freely scalable and flexible switching system that unites all resources in the company.
