Zyxel – network technology for small and medium businessesZyxel Communications was founded in Taiwan in 1989 and builds network technology for small and medium-sized businesses as well as for service providers. The scale is that of a company with a server room, not a data centre. In our range switches are by far the largest group – gigabit devices with five and eight ports, as desktop and metal versions, managed and unmanaged, with and without PoE+. Added to this are firewall hardware, access points, DSL and IP routers as well as SFP transceivers for fibre uplinks. For a small business this is the right size: a managed eight-port switch with PoE supplies telephones, access points and a camera, separates the guest network and still fits under the desk. |

Frequently asked questions
Managed or unmanaged switch?Unmanaged is sufficient as long as all devices are in the same network and nothing has to be separated. As soon as a guest network, telephony or cameras are to be separated, or prioritisation is wanted, the managed version is needed.
Is my switch's PoE budget sufficient?What counts is not the power per port but the total across all ports. Eight devices each at the full power class exceed the budget of most small switches – the figure is stated on the device and should be checked against the planned loads before purchase.
Which SFP module suits my fibre link?That follows from fibre type and distance: short runs within a building over multimode, longer ones between buildings over singlemode. The range appears in our item titles; both ends of the link need matching modules.
Are Zyxel items available from Lieske Elektronik?We carry 254 Zyxel items. Availability is shown on every item; for larger quantities we will confirm the delivery date in advance.
