Trilux – lighting for workplaces, made in the SauerlandWilhelm Lenze founded the company in Menden in 1912 as a supplier of luminaire parts; it has been based in Arnsberg since 1934. Trilux is still family-owned and is one of the large European makers of technical lighting – light whose first job is to serve a visual task. Its strength lies where large areas need even illumination: warehouses and production halls, offices, retail floors, car parks, streets and squares. The best-known system is E-Line – a support rail into which luminaire inserts with different light distributions are clipped. For planners and installers, the system matters more than any single luminaire: the same mounting over long runs, interchangeable inserts, DALI-dimmable versions for lighting management, and spare parts that are still available years later. |

What a Trilux item title tells you
With more than 40,000 items, many variants differ in just a few characters. Knowing how to read them finds the right one faster – and avoids ordering the wrong colour temperature for a half-fitted hall.
- The article number – seven to ten digits, such as 8157740 or 9002343437. It is part of every one of our titles and the safest search term when it comes from a bill of quantities or the rating plate.
- 830, 840, 865 – the light colour code. The first digit stands for colour rendering (8 = CRI 80 or better), the next two for colour temperature in hundreds of kelvin: 830 is warm white at 3000 K, 840 neutral white at 4000 K, 865 daylight white at 6500 K. A room should use the same code throughout.
- IP50, IP66 – the protection rating. The first digit describes protection against dust, the second against water. IP50 is enough in dry halls; car parks, wash-down areas or outdoor installations tend to need IP65 or IP66.
- ET and ETDD – the control gear. ET stands for an electronic driver without dimming, ETDD for a DALI-dimmable version. If daylight- or presence-dependent control is planned later, choose ETDD from the start.
- W and lm – power and luminous flux. Their ratio gives the efficacy in lumens per watt; when comparing two luminaires, the luminous flux counts, not the wattage.
