ISDN DECT cordless phones combine the wireless mobility of the DECT radio system with the digital ISDN S0 bus connection. They offer all ISDN standard features: CLIP, CLIR, MSN assignment and – for system phones – integration into the ISDN PBX features. MSN routing enables assignment of different numbers to different handsets on a shared DECT base. For new installations requiring DECT, we recommend IP DECT solutions (SIP-DECT) as ISDN lines are phasing out.

▶ Can I operate an ISDN DECT phone on an IP PBX with S0 port? Yes – many IP PBX systems (Auerswald, Agfeo) offer integrated S0 ports for connecting ISDN terminals. An ISDN DECT phone works on these S0 ports just like on an exchange S0 connection. The system internally translates between ISDN (S0) and SIP/IP. |
▶ Is it worth buying a new ISDN DECT phone? For replacement in existing ISDN systems: yes, if the system will continue to operate for some time. For new installations: no – invest directly in SIP-DECT solutions (IP DECT base stations + SIP handsets), which are more future-proof and often more flexible. |
▶ How many simultaneous calls does ISDN DECT allow? An ISDN DECT base with BRI connection has 2 B-channels – so max. 2 simultaneous calls (corresponding to the ISDN BRI standard). DECT itself can support more parallel connections but is limited by the ISDN channel count. For more than 2 simultaneous calls, you need a PBX with S2M or multiple BRI connections. |
