ISDN PBX systems use the digital basic rate interface (BRI, S0, 2B+D) or primary rate interface (PRI, S2M, 30B+D) for high-quality voice telephony and fast data transmission per Euro-ISDN standard (ETSI ETS 300 102, DSS1). They offer features such as CLIP, CLIR, MSN routing, group call, conference and CTI interface (CSTA, TAPI) for integration with PC-based applications. Available for existing installations from Auerswald (COMpact series), Agfeo (AC 14/41), Tiptel (280 ISDN) and other German manufacturers. ISDN PBX systems can be connected to all-IP lines via VoIP gateways (SIP-ISDN) to protect the investment.

▶ How long will ISDN lines still be supported? Deutsche Telekom and many other providers have largely switched ISDN lines to all-IP. New ISDN connections are barely being issued; existing ones run for a few more years depending on the provider. Plan medium- to long-term migration to SIP trunking. ISDN PBX systems can be bridged with a SIP-ISDN gateway. |

▶ Does it still make sense to buy a new ISDN system? For new installations, purchasing an ISDN system is no longer recommended as ISDN lines are phasing out. More sensible is starting with an IP PBX (SIP) with optional ISDN S0 port for the transition period. For spare parts and expansion of existing systems, we offer remaining stock and used equipment. |
