TEAC Corporation was founded in 1953 by brothers Katsuma and Tomoma Tani in Japan. Initially launched as the Tokyo Television Acoustic Company, it merged with the Tokyo Electro-Acoustic Company in 1964, forming the modern TEAC Corporation. The company gained prominence through its reel-to-reel tape recorders and cassette decks, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. Over time, TEAC expanded into the high-end audio market with the Esoteric brand and into professional audio recording technology with TASCAM, offering solutions for music production and broadcasting industries.
