Schmersal BN 85-R magnetic switch 101091836

The BN 85-R from Schmersal is a magnetic proximity switch with a latching function, specifically designed for use in safety-critical applications, including elevator systems. The sensor features a front-facing actuation plane and offers a minimum mechanical lifespan of 1 billion switching cycles, making it highly durable.

The housing is made of glass-fiber reinforced thermoplastic, providing robustness and resistance to wear and tear. With an IP40 protection rating, the BN 85-R is protected against solid objects but not waterproof. It can operate at a maximum actuation speed of 18 m/s and in ambient temperatures ranging from 0 °C to +75 °C.

The sensor comes with a 1-meter cable and supports a wire cross-section of 0.75 mm² (18 AWG). The maximum switching distance is up to 40 mm, depending on the actuator magnet used.

Important Note: The actuator is not included in the delivery. Recommended actuator magnets include BP 10 S, BP 15 S, and BP 34 S.
