Relco was founded in 1959 in Italy and over six decades has developed into a leading manufacturer of dimming and control technology for professional lighting installations. The product range covers leading-edge and trailing-edge dimmers for incandescent lamps, halogen lamps (230 V and low voltage), LED light sources and energy-saving lamps, as well as electronic transformers for low-voltage halogen systems.

Relco products are used in professional building installations, hotels, commercial properties and public facilities. The range includes flush-mount dimmers, surface-mount dimmers, push-button dimmers, rotary dimmers and DIN-rail dimmers – in single-phase and three-phase configurations for various load requirements.

Dimmers, transformers and control components for professional lighting installations

Flush-Mount Dimmers – RL Series Trailing-edge (RL) and leading-edge dimmers (RL+) for incandescent lamps, 230 V halogen lamps, low-voltage halogen systems with electronic transformers, and LED light sources. Load ranges from 40–500 W (resistive) to 40–400 VA (capacitive). Flush-mount in standard installation frame (55 mm system) – compatible with common switch ranges.	LED Dimmers – LED Series Specialist dimmers for dimmable LED drivers and LED lamps: leading-edge (RC/L) and trailing-edge (RL). Load current 3–150 W LED, multiple outputs for parallel installation. Optimised for flicker-free dimming even at small loads – with integrated interference suppression filter for EMC-compliant installation.

Electronic Transformers – LV Transformer Series Electronic low-voltage transformers (12 V) for NV halogen lighting systems with loads from 10–300 VA. Integrated overtemperature protection, short-circuit protection and no-load protection. Dimmable with RL trailing-edge dimmers – for system integration in dimmable low-voltage lighting installations.	DIN-Rail Dimmers – DIN Series Distribution-board dimmers for mounting on DIN rail (EN 60715) in control cabinets or distribution boards. Suitable for centralised dimmer installation with multiple outputs, loads up to 2,000 W. Control input for external push-button operation and 0–10 V signal – ideal for commercial and industrial building installations.

Rotary & Push-Button Dimmers Rotary dimmers with stepless brightness control via rotary element, and push-button dimmers with on/off function and long-press control. Both types available in flush-mount and surface-mount versions – with screw terminals for fast installation by electrical contractors.	Conventional Transformers & Ballasts Conventional low-voltage transformers (toroidal core) for NV halogen systems – robust and durable, suitable for standard trailing-edge dimmers. Loads from 20–500 VA. Also available in surface-mount version for retrospective installation in suspended ceilings and voids.

Frequently Asked Questions about Relco

Answers for electrical contractors and planners

Which Relco dimmer do I need for LED light sources? For dimmable LED lamps and LED drivers, Relco LED specialist dimmers in the RL/RC series should be used. These differ from standard trailing-edge dimmers (RL series for halogen/incandescent lamps) through adapted electronics that regulate even small LED loads (from 3 W) stably and without flicker. Compatibility with the specific LED driver should be confirmed with the luminaire manufacturer beforehand.

What is the difference between trailing-edge and leading-edge dimming? Trailing-edge dimmers (RL type) switch off at the end of the half-cycle – suitable for resistive loads (incandescent lamps, infrared heaters) and inductive loads (conventional transformers). Leading-edge dimmers (RC type) switch off at the start of the half-cycle – suitable for capacitive loads (electronic transformers, LED drivers). The choice of dimmer type must match the load characteristics of the light source or transformer.

Are Relco dimmers compatible with common switch ranges? Relco flush-mount dimmers follow the 55 mm installation standard and are mechanically compatible with widely used European switch programmes (e.g. Busch-Jaeger Busch-axcent, Gira Standard 55 and others). This allows them to be used as direct replacements for existing dimmers without additional installation work. Adapters for non-standard frame formats are available separately.
