Papst-Motoren / ebm-papst – World Market Leader for Fans and MotorsPapst-Motoren was founded in 1963 in Mulfingen, Germany and today trades as ebm-papst, the world market leader in energy-efficient fans and motors. With over 15,000 employees and more than 30 production sites worldwide, ebm-papst develops axial fans, centrifugal fans, diagonal fans, EC motors and complete ventilation systems – recognised for reliability, low energy consumption and long service life. EC motors (electronically commutated) from ebm-papst now replace AC induction motors in many industrial applications, achieving efficiency classes up to IE5. Axial fans of the 400/500/600 series and centrifugal fans of the 3000/4000 series are established in virtually all acoustic, cooling and air-conditioning applications. Lieske Elektronik supplies OEM customers, control cabinet builders, machine manufacturers and service technicians with ebm-papst fans and motors – from single units to series supply. | Axial Fans – Series 400 to 600 Axial fans in frame sizes 40 mm to 630 mm for control cabinet cooling, equipment cooling and industrial ventilation. Available as AC and EC variants with optional speed control. Protection ratings up to IP68 for harsh environments, bearing life up to L10h = 50,000 hours. | Centrifugal Fans – Series 3000 to 4000 Centrifugal and cross-flow fans for high static pressure in air-conditioning systems, heat pumps, continuous ovens and medical equipment. EC centrifugal fans of the RG series with integrated electronics and analogue interface for precise speed control. |
| EC Motors – Electronically Commutated Drives Brushless EC external and internal rotor motors as replacements for AC motors and shaded pole motors. IE4/IE5 efficiency class, integrated power electronics, 0–10V or PWM control input. Mounting dimensions compatible with common AC types for straightforward retrofitting. | Ventilation Modules & System Solutions Complete ventilation units consisting of fan, motor, controller and housing for direct installation in cooling devices, air-conditioning systems and ventilation equipment. | What is the difference between AC and EC fans from ebm-papst? AC fans run directly from the mains (230V/50Hz) and are cost-effective but have fixed speed and lower efficiency. EC fans (electronically commutated, GreenTech) use a DC internal motor with integrated electronics, are steplessly variable in speed and up to 70 % more efficient – compliant with EU Ecodesign requirements. |
| Which ebm-papst axial fan is suitable for control cabinet ventilation? For control cabinets, ebm-papst AC axial fans of the 400 series (80 mm to 150 mm) or EC variants with speed control for noise-sensitive environments are recommended. Matching filter cassettes and grilles for standard cutouts per EN 61554 are also available. |
| Can EC motors from ebm-papst directly replace existing AC motors? Yes. ebm-papst offers EC motors with dimensions and flange measurements compatible with common AC standard motors and shaded pole motors.
