Der NB2700 ist dank E1-Zertifizierung, seiner funktionalen und robusten Bauart (vibrations- und stossfest) und der Einsatzmöglichkeit im Temperaturbereich von -25 °C bis +70 °C besten für den Einbau in Busse und andere Strassenfahrzeuge geeignet. Mit einem LTE- oder UMTS-Modul ermöglicht der NB2700 unterwegs den drahtlosen Internetzugang. Je nach Netzabdeckung schaltet der NB2710 über das Mobile IP-Protokoll nahtlos zwischen LTE, UMTS oder GSM um. Er bietet Platz für 2 SIM-Karten, die hohe Verfügbarkeit in Netzwerkverbindungen unterschiedlicher Provider sicherstellen. Für WLAN für die Fahrgäste ist ein Access Point nach Standard IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n integriert. Zur Ausstattung gehört auch ein 5-Port Ethernetswitch. Die RS-232 serielle Schnittstelle des Routers kann als Geräteserver oder als System-Konsole verwendet werden. Die serielle Schnittstelle kann auch von der SDK Umgebung gesteuert werden.
Der NB2700 verfügt über zwei isolierte binäre Eingänge und zwei Relais-Ausgänge für den Anschluss von Sensoren und Aktoren. Die Logik für die Eingänge und Ausgänge wird vom Benutzer in der SDK-Umgebung implementiert.
Der USB-Anschluss ermöglicht schnelle Konfiguration und Firmware-Update per Memory-Stick. Der Anschluss kann aber auch als Geräteserver konfiguriert und verwendet werden.
