Mobotix – Decentralised Video Intelligence Made in GermanySince 1999, Mobotix has stood for a fundamentally different approach to IP video surveillance: instead of centralising intelligence in servers, every Mobotix camera processes image, audio and analysis directly on-site – as a fully-fledged computer with a lens. This reduces bandwidth requirements, increases resilience and enables intelligent analysis without cloud dependency. High-resolution cameras (HiRes) with up to 20 megapixels, built-in storage and integrated analysis functions such as people counting, temperature detection and facial recognition are especially suited for critical infrastructure, industry and public buildings. Following the acquisition by Certina Group in 2025, the company continues its international expansion. What sets Mobotix apart from other IP camera manufacturers?
Mobotix uses a decentralised concept: each camera processes image and analysis locally – no central video server required. This greatly increases resilience and reduces infrastructure costs.
Are Mobotix cameras ONVIF compatible?
The MOBOTIX MOVE series is fully ONVIF compliant and integrates with existing VMS platforms (Milestone, Genetec, Axis Camera Station and others). Classic Mobotix cameras use the proprietary MxProtocol but can be connected via gateways.
How much local storage do Mobotix cameras have?
Mobotix cameras support MicroSD cards up to 512 GB. Thanks to efficient H.264/H.265 compression and event-based recording, this storage is sufficient for many weeks of continuous surveillance – without an NVR.
