Nearly 100 Years of Expertise in Ventilation TechnologyMaico was founded in 1928 by Christian Maier in Villingen-Schwenningen and is today one of the most established companies in the fan and ventilation systems sector. The range covers more than 1,600 products for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. For commercial and industrial users, Maico offers axial fans, centrifugal fans, duct and roof fans – including versions for potentially explosive atmospheres (ATEX). Does Maico offer fans for potentially explosive atmospheres?
Yes. Maico has an extensive ATEX product line for Zone 1 and Zone 2 (gas) and Zone 21 and Zone 22 (dust) to EU Directive 2014/34/EU. These fans are suitable for the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries as well as spray-painting applications.

What does ErP compliance mean for fans?
The ErP Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2016/1253 sets minimum efficiency requirements for fans. Maico offers a wide range of ErP-compliant products with EC motors (electronically commutated) that consume significantly less energy than conventional AC motors – important for legally compliant new installations and refurbishment projects.

What is the difference between axial and centrifugal fans?
Axial fans move air in the direction of the rotor axis – suited to high air volumes with low pressure drop (e.g. wall penetrations, open halls). Centrifugal fans direct air radially from the impeller – they achieve higher pressures and are suitable for ducted systems, filter installations and applications with high flow resistance.
