What beam angle do I need for my downlight?
For narrow spots on merchandise or exhibits: 25°–36°. For even room illumination with recessed downlights (ceiling height 2.5–3 m): 36°–60°. Rule of thumb: ceiling height × 0.6 = optimal beam circle diameter.
How many GU10 spots do I need for an office?
Rule of thumb: 300–500 lx working level (EN 12464-1). With a 500 lm spot at 2.5 m height (60°), approx. 2–3 m² illuminated per lamp. For a 20 m² office: approx. 8–12 spots at 5 W each.
Are GU10 LED spots suitable for outdoor use?
Only with appropriate protection class IP54 or IP65. Standard GU10 spots are designed for indoors. Outdoor GU10 versions are available as special items.
Which dimmers are compatible with GU10 LEDs?
Trailing-edge dimmers are preferred. Brands such as Busch-Jaeger, Gira, Jung, Schneider and Lutron have wide LED compatibility lists. Choose trailing-edge dimmers with minimum load 3–10 W for LED.
