Starters for Fluorescent LampsStarters (ignition devices) are switching elements for operating fluorescent lamps with magnetic ballast. They generate the ignition voltage for the tube's arc. Common types: S2 (4–22 W), S10 (4–65 W), S11 (40–65 W), and double starters for T5 lamps. Electronic starters (quick-start) enable flicker-free instant start and extend lamp life. When converting to LED tubes with ballast bypass, starters are no longer required and must be bridged.
