HSM GmbH + Co. KG was founded in 1971 by Hermann Schwelling in Salem, Baden-Württemberg, and is today one of Germany's leading manufacturers of document shredders, balers and recycling systems. Frequently Asked Questions about HSM

Which security level do I need for GDPR-compliant destruction?

For personal data, data protection officers recommend at least level P-4 (cross-cut, max. 160 mm²). For particularly sensitive data (social security, health records), P-5 or higher is advisable. HSM models are available in all common security levels.

Are HSM shredders also suitable for credit cards and CDs/DVDs?

Yes – many HSM models can handle credit cards, CDs, DVDs and paper clips in addition to paper. The StoreEx series is specifically designed for the certified destruction of electronic data carriers in accordance with DIN 66399.
