Thanks to the omnidirectional scanning function, coupled with a high depth of field and state-of-the-art decoding software, cashiers can capture almost any barcode error-free on the first attempt without having to worry about the orientation or print quality of the barcodes.
If you foresee that you will work with 2D codes at a later date but do not currently need this function, the 7980g is also available as an omnidirectional 1D scanner, which can be inexpensively upgraded to a full 2D area imager at any time leaves.
