Anwendung:
Alle Außenkabel sind grundsätzlich zur Verwendung in allen Betriebsstätten zugelassen. Einschränkungen für Grubenbauer siehe DIN VDE 0118 Teil 1 bis Teil 3. Kabel mit äußerem PE-Mantel sind ohne ausreichende Schutzmaßnahmen für feuer- oder explosionsgefährdete Betriebstätten nicht zulässig.
Alle Bauarten sind für Starkstrom-Installationszwecke nicht zugelassen. Kabel mit Isolierhülle und Mantel aus Polyäthylen in Bündelverseilung nach DIN VDE 0816 Teil 1 enthalten Stern-
Vierer und werden vorwiegend niederfrequent, nur im Stamm und vorzugsweise unbespultbetrieben. Sie werden z.B. als Ortsanschluss- und Ortsverbindungskabel, als Bahnhofsfernmeldekabel und in Industrieanlagen verwendet. PE-isolierte Kabel dürfen Adern mit in regelmäßigem Abstand durchbrochener Isolierhülle zur Isolationsüberwachung enthalten.
