Doepke Schaltgeräte GmbH was founded in 1956 in Norden, East Frisia, and is one of the pioneers of residual current protection technology. The company produces the world's most comprehensive RCD range and supplies electrical planners, contractors, and industrial companies with reliable DIN-rail switchgear. At two German production sites – Norden and Bickenriede in Thuringia – Doepke develops DIN-rail devices for residential and commercial buildings, as well as specially hardened types for industrial environments with frequency inverters, switched-mode power supplies, and EV charging infrastructure. |

What is the difference between Type A and Type B residual current devices?
Type A detects AC fault currents and pulsating DC – sufficient for most household appliances. Type B (all-current-sensitive) additionally detects smooth DC, which can occur in frequency inverters, PV inverters and EV charging infrastructure. Doepke offers both types in a wide range.

Which Doepke RCD is suitable for EV charging infrastructure?
For charging stations and wallboxes, a Type B RCD (e.g. DFS 2 / DFS 4 series, Type B) or a Type A with integrated DC-6 mA converter protection is recommended depending on the system design. Doepke offers both individual and combination solutions per IEC 62752.

Are Doepke switchgear devices VDE-certified?
Yes – all Doepke protective switches undergo VDE testing and comply with the relevant IEC standards. For safety-critical applications, VdS-approved versions are also available.
