TEF4 elektronische Zeitrelais werden über einen parallel geschalteten Direktanschluss zu den Spulenklemmen A1 - A2 des Schützes oder Hilfsschützes mit Strom versorgt. Zum Schutz vor Stoßspannungen in der
Schützspule ist ein Varistor in das Zeitrelais integriert.
Mit TEF4-ON bzw. TEF4-OFF sind unabhängig vom Steuerungssystem um bis zu 100 s zeitverzögerte Funktionen in drei verschiedenen Zeitbereichen möglich. Die Zeitverzögerungsbereiche werden über einen Schalter ausgewählt, die Einstellung der Zeitverzögerung erfolgt mit einem Drehschalter. Die Zeitsteuerungsfunktion wird aktiviert, indem das Gerät geschlossen oder geöffnet wird, auf dem das Zeitrelais montiert ist.
Die Version mit Rückfallverzögerung arbeitet ohne zusätzliche Steuerspannung.
