Soldering Tools
Professional soldering technology covers soldering stations, irons, desoldering pumps, solder and associated accessories for electronics manufacturing, control cabinet assembly and repair work. Temperature-controlled stations (Weller WE1, Ersa i-CON, JBC CD-2BB) ensure reproducible solder quality and protect ESD-sensitive components. Lead-free soldering per RoHS/IPC requires higher working temperatures (217–220 °C for SAC305) and more powerful stations; classic Sn63Pb37 remains permitted for repairs and exemptions. | ★ Selected Manufacturers |

Frequently Asked Questions
▶ Which soldering station for lead-free (RoHS)? For lead-free soldering per RoHS, stations with at least 80 W heating power and fast temperature control are recommended, e.g. Weller WE 1, Ersa i-CON 1 or JBC CD-2BB. Important: use soldering tips designed for lead-free solder — standard tips corrode faster due to the more aggressive SAC305 alloy. |
▶ What does ESD-safe mean for soldering stations? ESD-safe soldering stations are earthed and keep the potential difference between the tip and the workpiece below 2 mV (IEC 61340). The tip is connected to protective earth via the station body and mains lead. An earthing wrist strap is additionally recommended for ESD-safe workstations. |
▶ How long do soldering tips last? Quality soldering tips from Weller or Ersa achieve 500–2,000 soldering hours depending on use. To extend life: tin the tip after each session (wet with fresh solder), keep working temperature as low as possible, avoid overheating. Regenerate oxidised tips using mechanical cleaning with a brass-wool cleaner. |
