UAE sockets (Universal-Anschluss-Entität) are the ISDN-compatible standard for office installations and support both ISDN (S0 bus, 8-pin) and analogue services at a single outlet. UAE sockets per DIN VDE 0604-3 with RJ45 keystone module are more common today and can also accept ISDN devices via 8-pin assignment. Typical use: in structured office cabling as universal outlet for phone (analogue, ISDN) and data LAN.

In new office installations today, RJ45 (Cat.6A) is installed directly, flexibly covering UAE/ISDN and data services via keystone modules. |

ISDN S0 bus at the UAE-8 socket (per ETSI ETS 300 012): Pin 1/2 = power supply (optional), Pin 3/4 = transmit line (TE→NT), Pin 5/6 = receive line (NT→TE), Pin 7/8 = optional. The connection line (a-conductor, b-conductor) is assigned at the UAE socket as Pin 4/5 for analogue services. Check the label on the back of the socket or the manufacturer's connection diagram. |
