The SCHUCH e865F 12L42 is an explosion-protected LED trough luminaire from the ExeLED 1 series, designed for use in explosive atmospheres in EX zones 1/21 and 2/22. The device features a robust enclosure made of glass-fiber-reinforced polyester in grey color and a satin-finished polycarbonate end cover equipped with a silicone seal. The luminaire is suitable for use in industrial facilities, such as in chemical, petrochemical, or process engineering applications, where high safety against explosions caused by gas or dust atmospheres is required.

Applications

The luminaire is approved for use in EX zones 1/21 (gas) and 2/22 (dust), making it suitable for areas with increased explosion risk. The EX marking is II 2 G Ex eb mb q IIC T4 Gb for gas and II 2 D Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db for dust. The permissible ambient temperature ranges from -30 °C to +55 °C, enabling use in industrial facilities with varying climatic conditions. The IP66 protection rating ensures dust-tight and watertight construction, also suitable for outdoor use.

Functions and Features in Detail

The luminaire includes an encapsulated EVG (electronic ballast) with integrated overvoltage, overload, and short-circuit protection, enhancing operational safety. The LED modules are mounted in a sandwich construction within the end cover, with a painted steel reflector optimizing light output. The plug-and-play wiring (RR) enables simple and safe installation and maintenance. The cover is fully removable, facilitating component replacement or inspection.

Technology Explained Simply

The luminaire produces a luminous flux of 4360 lumens at a system power of 28 watts, resulting in a luminous efficacy of 156 lumens per watt. The color temperature is 6500 Kelvin, corresponding to cool, neutral white light, and the color rendering index is Ra ≥ 80, ensuring good color fidelity. The lifespan is specified as L80B50 > 100,000 hours at maximum ambient temperature and L90B50 > 80,000 hours at 25 °C ambient temperature. The LED modules comply with the Zhaga standard, enabling standardization and interchangeability.

Compatibility and Accessories

The luminaire features multiple entries: three M25 connectors, one locking screw, and two threaded connectors suitable for wiring in plastic conduits with diameters from 8 to 17 mm. The external mounting system consists of mounting brackets, allowing for flexible installation. As accessories, mounting brackets are available for securing the luminaire to various substrates.

Installation and Mounting

The luminaire is designed for flexible mounting. The external mounting system with brackets allows adjustable installation on ceilings, walls, or other supports. The plug-and-play wiring (RR) simplifies installation and maintenance, as wiring is done directly at the device. The satin-finished PC cover and stainless steel closures (1.4571) ensure high mechanical and chemical resistance.

Operational Advantages

The high luminous efficacy and long lifespan reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs. The integrated protection functions in the EVG enhance operational safety. The IP66 protection rating and approval for EX zones 1/21/2/22 make the luminaire a reliable solution for demanding industrial environments. The modular design with a removable cover facilitates inspection and maintenance.
