Mit dem Modicon modularer Sicherheitscontroller XPSMCM lassen sich Sicherheitsanwendungen einfach konfigurieren und das System mit Modulen entsprechend der Anwendung flexibel erweitern. Diese Zentraleinheit (CPU) der Version 2 ist das Grundmodul, welches für jedes Sicherheitssystem an Maschinen und Anlagen benötigt wird. In der CPU findet die Verarbeitung der konfigurierten Sicherheitsanwendung statt. Es stehen 8 sichere digitale Eingänge, 4 sichere OSSD-Ausgänge und 2 Statusausgänge zur Verfügung. Bis zu 14 Erweiterungsmodule ermöglichen im Gesamtausbau den Anschluss bis zu 128 sicheren Ein- und 32 sicheren Ausgänge, 48 Meldeausgänge, sowie Drehzahlerfassungen und Analogwertauswertung. Per optionaler Feldbuserweiterung ist eine Diagnosekommunikation mit der angeschlossenen SPS möglich. Optional ist eine Speicherkarte mit der gespeicherten Konfiguration auf der Modulrückseite einsteckbar. Das erreichbare Sicherheitsniveau beträgt PL e in Kategorie 4 bzw. SIL 3. LED-Anzeigen geben Statusmeldungen zum System und für jeden Ein- und Ausgang. Die Konfiguration erfolgt durch den Anwender mit der kostenlos verfügbaren Software SoSafe Configurable per USB-Anschluss vom PC aus. Mit einem separat zu bestellenden Rückwand-Busstecker können Erweiterungsmodule angeschlossen werden. Daher eignet sich diese Bestell-Nr der CPU insbesondere für Stand-Alone Anwendungen ohne geplante Erweiterungen. Die Versorgungsspannung beträgt 24 VDC. Das Modul verfügt über abziehbare Schraubklemmen und hat eine Baubreite von 22,5 mm.
