| How do I determine the required cooling capacity for an electrical enclosure? The required cooling capacity is determined by the power dissipation of the installed components (in watts), the enclosure size and the temperature difference between inside and outside. Pfannenberg provides sizing aids and online tools for this purpose. As a rule of thumb, the cooling capacity should be at least 20–30% above the calculated power dissipation. Lieske will advise you on the specific selection. |
| When is a fan-and-filter unit sufficient and when is a cooling unit required? Fan-and-filter units are sufficient when the ambient temperature is lower than the maximum permissible internal enclosure temperature and the power dissipation of the installed components is moderate. When the ambient temperature exceeds the desired internal temperature, an active cooling unit is required. For dusty or humid environments, heat exchangers without air exchange are the better choice. |
| Which Pfannenberg signal devices are ATEX-certified for hazardous areas? Pfannenberg offers ATEX-certified versions of its signal devices for Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22 in accordance with ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU. The explosion-proof sounders and strobe lights of the EX series are approved for use in chemical plants, refineries, paint spray booths and other hazardous industrial areas. |
