The Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) is a state-of-the-art, exchangeable transceiver module of the latest generation, used in active network components designed for this purpose. Thanks to its compact design, it is smaller than any other currently available form factor and offers an exceptionally high density per line interface. Many current network products are already equipped with slots for modular optical transceivers, providing users with maximum flexibility in network configuration. With its hot-swap capability, the module can be replaced or installed during operation without interrupting network activity.

The SFP module is selected based on the cable medium used (multimode, single mode, single mode simplex, or twisted pair) and the required bandwidth. Standards such as the Multi Source Agreement (MSA) and the SFF-8472 specification ensure a standardized design and provide additional benefits such as an optional digital diagnostic function.

The Multimode Extender SFP Transceiver is specifically designed for data transmission at up to 1.25 GBit/s over a distance of up to 2 km, provided optimal fiber quality is maintained. This is made possible by a highly precise optical laser that ensures stable and high-performance transmissions.
