Veranstaltungstechnik – Mixing Desks

Mixing desks for DJ use, live PA and studio applications – from compact 4-channel DJ mixers with crossfader to professional 16- and 32-channel audio mixers with XLR inputs, parametric EQ and integrated effects processors. DJ mixers have 2–4 line inputs (RCA/jack) and a crossfader for seamless music transitions.

PA mixing desks (audio mixers): Multiple mono input channels with mic preamp (XLR) and separate line inputs, 3-band EQ per channel, aux sends for monitor feeds and effects units, master bus with EQ and VU meters. Integrated effects processors (reverb, delay, chorus, flanger) eliminate a separate rack effects unit – ideal for mobile PA setups. DJ mixers: Line inputs only, crossfader for smooth transitions, channel pre-listen via headphones (cue), BPM display.

Applications: club and disco, live band on small to medium stage, conference and corporate event, church and worship service, school and educational establishment. Buying advice: for mobile PA an 8–12-channel mixer with built-in effects is sufficient. Fixed installations in churches or halls often need 16–32 channels and separate monitor sends. Digital mixers offer scene memory for recurring setups.

Mixing Desks – FAQ

How many channels do I need for a live band?

Drum kit 6–10 channels (kick, snare, hi-hat, 3x tom, 2x overhead), guitar 1–2, bass 1, keyboards 2, vocals 2–4. Result: 14–20 channels for a standard rock band. Recommendation: buy a desk with 20 % headroom.

What is an aux send and why do I need it?

Aux sends are additional outputs that allow an independent mix (separate from the master). Uses: stage monitor speakers (musicians hear themselves), effects unit (reverb/delay in send/return mode), recording output.

Digital or analogue mixing desk?

Analogue desks: more affordable, intuitive, zero latency – ideal for simple to medium applications. Digital desks: scene memory, remote control via app, built-in EQ/compressor per channel – advantageous for complex or recurring setups.
