Veranstaltungstechnik – Microphones
Microphones for stage, studio and events – from dynamic handheld mics for live vocals and speech to condenser mics for instruments and boundary applications, plus headsets and lavalier mics for presenters and lecturers. Available as wired XLR versions and as accessories for wireless systems. Dynamic microphones are robust and insensitive to feedback and moisture – ideal for live vocals, speech and loud sources (drums, guitar amps). No phantom power needed. Condenser microphones offer higher sensitivity and wider frequency response – suitable for acoustic recording, speech intelligibility and overhead pickup. Require 48 V phantom power from the mixer. Boundary microphones are suitable for conference tables, podiums and discreet room installations. Applications: live stage (vocals, instrument, presenting), conference and presentation, lecture hall and auditorium, broadcast and podcast recording, field interview work. Key features: cardioid pattern for stage (good feedback rejection), omnidirectional for conference, integrated switch and grille, robust XLR connector. Microphones – FAQ
Which microphone polar pattern for which application?
Cardioid/supercardioid: stage and vocals – high feedback rejection. Omnidirectional: conference and room pickup – captures all directions equally. Figure-8 (bidirectional): interview and two-person face-to-face.
Do dynamic microphones need phantom power?
No – dynamic microphones work without external power. Only condenser and some ribbon mics require 48 V phantom power. Phantom power does not damage standard dynamic mics with XLR.
Which cable connects microphone to mixing desk?
Standard is a 3-pin XLR cable (balanced, hum-free). 5–20 m length for stage use. For jack-equipped mics (6.3 mm) a jack-to-XLR adapter is needed.
