In many cases websites completely fit on a tablet screen at their full width. Pictures and movies can be displayed with all their little details. Not every tablet has a built in capability for going online by connecting to the cellular network, though. In those cases a wifi network can be used. It is also important to know that tablet computers all have different battery capacities, memory capacities and different kinds of connectors such as HDMI or VGA, all depending on the manufacturer and model.
Deciding for the right operating system is also a very important criteria before purchasing. Apple iPads come with iOS, most other tablet computers run on Android. Ideally you already know the difference between those operating systems and have a personal favorite before you buy.
If you often surf the web while you are on the go, a tablet that can connect to the cellular network is recommended. If you frequently work with SD cards or USB sticks it is also important to choose a tablet that can handle these accesories. On the other hand, if you only want to do your office work or play games, you can probably go without GPS capabilities, for example.
