The HP Desktop Mini DVD ODD Expansion Module (manufacturer number K9Q83AA) is an external optical drive, specifically developed for expanding HP Desktop Mini computers. It serves as a DVD Super Multi DL drive and enables read and write functions for various disc formats, including CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, and DVD-RAM. The module is designed as an external device, not built-in, and connects via a USB 3.0 interface, obtaining both power supply and data transfer through the network cable. The device's color is black. It is designed for use in the desktop environment and serves to extend the storage and media functionality of compact Mini-PCs.

Applications
This module is primarily intended for HP Desktop Mini computers, particularly models such as HP 260 Desktop Mini, HP Pro Mini 400 G9, HP EliteDesk 600 Desktop Mini, HP Elite Mini 800 G9, as well as other models from the EliteDesk and ProDesk series. It extends the functionality of these devices, which often lack integrated optical drives, enabling the use of CDs, DVDs, and Double-Layer DVDs for data backup, software installation, or media playback. Its use is especially beneficial in office environments where flexible and secure data storage is required.

Functions and Equipment in Detail
The drive supports a maximum write speed of 24x for CDs and 8x for standard DVDs (DVD+R and DVD-R). For Double-Layer DVDs (DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL), the write speed is 6x. The read speed for CDs is also 24x, and for DVD-ROMs, it is 8x. Access times are approximately 140 ms for CD-ROMs and 160 ms for DVD-ROMs, enabling fast data search and playback. The module features an integrated VESA mounting system (100 mm), allowing flexible attachment to monitors or other VESA-compatible devices. Mounting is done using screws included in the delivery, and the module can be directly attached to the Mini-PC.

Technology Explained Simply
The device operates via a USB 3.0 interface, which handles both data transfer and power supply. Power is supplied through the USB interface at 5 VDC, with a typical power consumption of 1000 mA and a maximum of 1600 mA. The connection is made using a USB 3.0 Type-B connector attached to the device. The maximum capacity is 8.5 GB for Double-Layer DVDs or 4.7 GB for standard DVDs. The technical design allows for compact and robust integration into existing work environments without requiring additional power supply units.

Compatibility and Accessories
The module is compatible with a range of HP Desktop Mini computers, including models such as HP 260 Desktop Mini, HP Pro Mini 400 G9, HP EliteDesk 600 Desktop Mini, HP Elite Mini 800 G9, HP EliteDesk 8 Mini G1i, HP EliteDesk 8 Mini G1a, HP ProDesk 4 Mini G1i, HP EliteDesk 8 Mini G2i, HP EliteDesk 8 Mini G2a, and HP ProDesk 2 Mini G2i. It can be combined with other expansion modules to create a customized expansion solution. Mounting is also possible with the HP Security/Dual VESA Sleeve, allowing additional security for the device. Use with a VESA mounting system enables flexible placement.

Installation and Mounting
Installation is performed by attaching the module to the Mini-PC using the screws included in the delivery. The connection is made via the included USB 3.0 cable, which is plugged into a USB Type-A port on the computer. The VESA mounting allows flexible positioning, for example, at the back of a monitor.

Advantages in Operation
The module provides a reliable and compact solution for optical data storage and playback. The USB 3.0 interface ensures fast data transfer and simplifies installation. The integrated VESA mounting enables flexible placement, and compatibility with various HP Mini-PC models increases its applicability. The delivery includes a warranty card indicating a one-year limited warranty. The operating temperature ranges from 5 °C to 50 °C, allowing use in typical office and work environments. Dimensions are 22.8 mm (width) × 177 mm (depth) × 174.6 mm (height), and the weight is 712 g.
