Er sorgt für galvanische Trennung.
Ab ETS 6 kann das Gerät auch als Segmentkoppler eingesetzt werden, um Liniensegmente miteinander zu verbinden (inkl. Filterfunktion).
Das Gerät unterstützt Extended Frames (ab > ETS5) und KNX Data Secure Kommunikation. KNX Data Secure Telegramme werden je nach Einstellung verarbeitet, gefiltert, weitergeleitet oder blockiert.
Als Secure Proxy verschlüsselt oder entschlüsselt er die Telegramme mit Gruppenadressen in beide Richtungen zwischen gesicherter und nicht gesicherter Kommunikation.
