Ground Loop Resistance Measurements for Commercial, Industrial, and Utility Needs
The Fluke 1630's current clamp ground testing technique simplifies ground loop testing and allows leakage current to be measured without breaking the circuit. The compact and rugged design makes the Fluke 1630 easy to use in tight spaces and harsh environments. At the same time, the “Display Hold” function and the continuity test with an acoustic alarm ensure comfortable use. The new technology ensures that ground loop measurement and continuity testing can be carried out without interrupting the current flow.
Stakeless Test System
The Fluke 1630 utilizes a stakeless test method that eliminates the need to disconnect the parallel ground rods and find suitable locations for the additional ground stakes. This saves time and enables users, such as industrial and utility electricians or field service workers, to perform ground loop measurements in locations where other techniques cannot be used, such as inside buildings or on utility poles. The stakeless test method eliminates the need for grounding stakes. The Fluke 1630 ground loop tester is attached to the earth rod or connecting cable. A known voltage is induced by one half of the clamp and the current is measured by the other half. The meter automatically determines the ground loop resistance present in this grounding system. For stakeless measurement, at least two earth connections (e.g. ground earth electrode, foundation earth electrode, water pipe, etc. on the system to be measured) are necessary in order to close the current path of the induced voltage.
