This standalone safety processor is part of the Modicon M580 range, a range of programmable logic controllers (PAC/PLC) with integrated functional safety and with integrated Ethernet. It offers a maximum configuration of 8 local racks and 16 remote racks with up to 20,480 digital I/O channels and 5,120 analog I/O channels. This safety product is coated and is compatible with a temperature range of -25°C to +60°C/-13°F to 140°F. This controller can help hybrid manufacturers achieve a better, measurable and earlier ROI and recover up to 100% of their project investment in less than three months. It features 1 Ethernet port for service, 2 Ethernet ports for the ring remote I/O network (remote IO racks only) and 1 USB mini-B port for the programming console. It has an integrated RAM memory of 16 MB for programs, 2,048 KB for data, 10 KB for system memory. It has an expandable flash memory of 4 GB for data storage as well as 4 MB for program security and 1,024 KB for data security. This processor is certified by TÜV Rheinland up to SIL2/SIL3 according to IEC 61508/61511 for processes. Also up to SILCL3 according to IEC 62061 and up to Cat. 4/Ple according to ISO 13849 for machinery and up to SIL4 according to EN 50126/502128/50129 for rail. This module meets the requirements of applications in the areas of transportation, water and wastewater, packaged consumer goods, mining, minerals, metals, power generation, energy and chemicals, and data centers. It complies with CE, UL, CSA, RCM, EAC, UKCA, ATEX/IECEx Zone 2/22 and TUV/IEC61508/SIL3 standards and is certified for power generation, merchant marine, railway and hazardous area applications. This processor requires the use of a BMEP58CPROS safety coprocessor. This offering is compatible with Modicon X80 modules and Quantum IO Remote Racks. The CPU must be installed in the rack slots marked 00 and 01, with 2 screws installed on the top of the CPU to hold the module in the rack. This product can be used in combination with Modicon X80 (I/O, backplane, cables) and works with EcoStruxure Control Expert programming software.
