The AZM 161 Z ST1-AS RA from K.A. Schmersal GmbH & Co. KG is an electromechanical safety interlock with AS-Interface (AS-i) Safety connectivity. It is used to securely monitor and lock movable, removable, or rotating protective devices to prevent access to hazardous areas of machinery.

The interlock operates on a power-to-lock principle and offers a maximum locking force of 2,600 N. The housing is made of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic, making it highly durable and resistant to mechanical stress. A manual release mechanism allows the lock to be manually opened during maintenance or setup. The device supports AS-Interface Safety-at-Work (ASi-SaW) and features dynamic code transmission for secure communication with control systems.

It complies with international safety standards, including EN ISO 13849-1 and EN IEC 61508, and achieves various Performance Levels (PL c, d, e) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).

The actuator is not included and must be ordered separately.
