Functions and Features in Detail
The CSM-200-1213 features an RJ45 interface for 10/100BaseT(X) Ethernet with Auto-Negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDI-X, enabling automatic adaptation to connection partners. The fibre optic side is equipped with an ST connector for multimode fibre optic cable. The modules support two operating modes: Store-and-Forward, where data packets are fully received and checked before forwarding, and Pass-Through, where data packets are forwarded directly, enabling lower latency. The Link Fault Pass-Through (LFP) and Far End Fault (FEF) functions enable rapid fault detection, allowing network disruptions to be quickly localized.

Technology Explained Simply
The integrated magnetic isolation of 1.5 kV protects the module from electrical interference and voltage spikes, enhancing reliability in industrial environments. Auto-Negotiation ensures that connection settings (e.g. speed, duplex mode) between the module and the connected device are automatically adjusted. The Plug-and-Play design enables easy installation without additional configuration. Hot-Swap functionality allows the module to be replaced during operation, minimizing network downtime.

Compatibility and Accessories
The module is exclusively suitable for the Moxa NRack System™ chassis. It is not designed for other enclosures or systems. The model designation CSM-200-1213 refers to the multimode variant with ST connector. Other variants in the series, such as CSM-200-1214 (multimode, SC connector) or CSM-200-1218 (singlemode, SC connector), are also available, but not part of this article.

Installation and Mounting
Installation is performed by inserting the module into a free slot in the NRack System enclosure. Hot-Swap functionality allows replacement without shutting down the system. Cabling is done via the RJ45 interface for Ethernet and the ST connector for fibre optic. No additional tools or configurations are required.

Operational Advantages
