The Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP+) is an advanced and interchangeable transceiver module specifically designed for high-performance networking applications. Its compact form factor is smaller than all currently available designs, providing maximum port density per line card. The hot-swap functionality allows SFP+ modules to be installed or replaced during operation without disrupting network availability.

SFP+ modules support bandwidths of up to 11.1 GBit/s, making them suitable for a variety of applications such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, 8 Gigabit Fibre Channel, and STM-64. Depending on requirements, transceivers can be configured for multimode or single-mode fiber cables. Standards such as the Multi Source Agreement (MSA) and SFF-8472 ensure uniform design and optional Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM), allowing precise monitoring of network connections.
