The InLine USB to RS485 Converter with integrated lightning protection reliably connects computers with a USB-A port to RS485 devices and bus systems. It is suitable for communication via a virtual COM port and supports, amongst other things, Modbus RTU as well as numerous other serial applications.
The high-quality FTDI chipset ensures stable data transmission at baud rates from 300 to 512,000 bps. Automatic direction switching in half-duplex mode is handled entirely by the hardware. This means that no additional software configuration is required.
The integrated protection circuit, featuring 6 kV surge and lightning protection in accordance with IEC 61000-4-5, a bidirectional TVS protection diode and ESD protection, safeguards the RS485 interface against voltage spikes and electrostatic discharges. The PGND connection, which is galvanically isolated from the signal ground, enables the safe connection of cable shields or protective earth connections.
An integrated 120 Ω terminating resistor reduces signal reflections on longer bus lines. With support for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android, the Converter is suitable for a wide range of applications in automation, measurement and control technology, and energy monitoring.
