The A/B position is latched, ensuring signal flow is maintained even during power loss. Switch control options include manual or electronic via an RS-232 local console, or remote control over TCP/IP on managed models. A key-lock mechanism with a removable key secures the gang switch control, preventing unauthorized access.

Fiber models (NBS004, NBS006) use highly reliable optical micro-mirrors, while copper models use internal telecom-grade relays, offering transparency to data rates, protocols, and signal levels. The NBSALL8 model supports networks up to gigabit speed. This compact, 1U rack-mountable chassis has dual power inputs for redundancy, with daisy-chaining capability that supports up to 4080 ports or 255 chassis for large-scale installations.
