Further information for Barox RY-LPITE-804GBTME switch 8-Port 10/100/1000TX 4xPoE 4x100/1000FX

The Barox RY-LPITE-804GBTME is an industrial, manageable L2/L3 switch, specifically designed for integration into robust Ethernet ring networks. It features eight copper ports with 10/100/1000TX support, four of which are equipped with Power over Ethernet (PoE), supporting PoE standards 802.3af (PoE), 802.3at (PoE+), and UPoE up to 60W per port. The total PoE power capacity is 240 W. The switch is designed for use in video networks, with an integrated DMS function (Device Management System) enabling graphical network topology, device search, and data traffic display. Mounting is done via DIN rail, making it suitable for industrial and space-saving installations.

Applications
This switch is intended for critical applications in industrial environments, particularly in video surveillance systems. Its ability to build fault-tolerant fiber ring networks via two or more single-mode fiber (SMF) connections ensures high network availability. In the event of a ring interruption, the ring automatically reconfigures in less than 50 milliseconds, ensuring system continuity. Support for IEC 61850 also makes it suitable for communication networks in the power supply industry.

Functions and Features in Detail
The eight copper ports (RJ45) provide Gigabit Ethernet connections with auto-negotiation for 10/100/1000 MBit/s. The first four ports are PoE-enabled, supporting power levels PoE (15W), PoE+ (30W), and PoE++ (60W). PoE management includes active monitoring of connected cameras: in case of failure, an automatic restart attempt is initiated; if unsuccessful, an alarm is triggered via SNMP. Additionally, PoE power can be activated with a time delay upon switch startup to prevent overloading the power supply. The four SFP fiber ports enable 100/1000 MBit/s connections; compatibility with SFP modules from other manufacturers is not guaranteed, so the use of barox SFP modules is recommended.

Technology Explained Simply
The switch features a backplane capacity of 24 GBit/s, ensuring high data processing performance even with all ports occupied. The forwarding rate is 17.9 Mpps, ensuring efficient packet processing. The MAC table holds 8,000 entries, sufficient for a large number of connected devices. Support for Jumbo Frames up to 9600 bytes, even at 100 MBit/s, ensures smooth video transmission, especially at high data rates. Layer-3 functions include static routing for IPv4 and IPv6 unicast, enabling network segmentation. VLANs can be configured with up to 64 VLAN IDs and 802.1Q support, allowing flexible network structuring. Link aggregation is supported via 802.3ad LACP and static trunks with up to 12 groups (each with 16 ports).

Compatibility and Accessories
The switch includes a console port (RS232, 115.2 kBit/s, 8, N, 1, RJ45) for local configuration. Configuration can be performed via multiple methods: console, web server, Telnet, CLI, SNMP v1/v2/v3, TFTP, SSH, SSL, RMON, and USB. Security is ensured through SSH v1/v2, SSL for the GUI, and user authentication with private key. Multicast functions include IGMP v1, v2, v3, MVR, and Multicast VLAN Registration. The DMS function provides graphical network topology, device search, and data traffic display. A digital input (0–6 VDC) and a digital output enable integration with external alarm systems.

Mounting and Installation
Mounting is done via DIN rail, allowing flexible installation in enclosures or industrial environments. The switch is fanless, making it suitable for dusty and humid environments. The operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +75°C, with relative humidity from 5% to 95% (non-condensing). Power supply is via 48–57 VDC; for PoE+ and UPoE, at least 54 VDC is required. Redundant power supply is possible. Power consumption is 15 W (without PoE) and 255 W (with PoE). Heat dissipation is 109 BTU/h.

Operational Advantages
The combination of PoE, ring capability, DMS monitoring, and robust operating conditions makes this switch particularly suitable for video surveillance systems. Automatic ring reconfiguration in under 50 ms increases availability. Active PoE management and monitoring ensure stable power supply to connected devices. Support for Jumbo Frames and high backplane capacity ensure smooth video transmission. Management functions via CLI, web interface, SNMP, and SSH enable flexible network control. Compliance with EMC standards (IEC61000-4-2 to -4-8) and EMI standards (FCC Part 15 Class A, EN55022) ensures reliable operation in electromagnetically noisy environments. The MTBF is 494,255 hours at 25°C and 99,723 hours at 75°C, indicating high longevity. The switch is not supported by xNMS.

Scope of Delivery
The scope of delivery includes only the switch itself. Accessories such as SFP modules, cables, or mounting accessories are not included.
