Further information for Axis 5801-811
5801-811 Range up to 550 m Multi-mode fiber link loss function For industrial use - extended temperature range Compliant with SFP MSA The AXIS T8612 SFP module LC.SX is an SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) transceiver for Providing an optical fiber network connection for network devices such as switches and routers. The module is suitable for industrial use thanks to its wide temperature range (between -40 and 65 °C) and has a signal loss function that enables network redundancy.
It complies with the SFP Multisource Agreement (MSA) and can be easily installed on compatible ports at any time without having to interrupt the online operation of the host devices. Short wavelength (850 nm) VCSEL laser diodes enable data transmission over up to 550 m using optical fibers (multimode, 50/125 µm). The module has been tested and verified with Axis products such as the AXIS T8516 PoE+ Network Switch. Link Loss feature for network redundancy The Loss of Signal feature allows the system to detect a loss of connection between a specific piece of hardware (such as AXIS network cameras) and the host. To ensure optimal network redundancy, AXIS T8612 sends a signal to the hardware in the event of a connection being interrupted or unsuitable for network traffic. This allows the hardware to redirect network traffic to a replacement connection, such as RJ-45. For connections over long distances, fiber optic cables are commonly used in urban surveillance systems, airports and other large installations where there is a risk of lightning strikes or large distances have to be overcome.
